I Love Pat Kiernan
Always mute your phone when listening to a conference call
The loudest mouth breather was on my conference call today. My boss and I were laughing our asses off - we had our phone muted, of course.Michael Kors, on tonight’s eposide of Project Runway.
I’m really psyched for the Olympics. When I was a kid I wanted to be in the Olympics so badly, even though there wasn’t a sport in the world I excelled in.
I think what I really wanted was just to to walk in with the American team during the opening ceremonies, waving at the crowd, have the camera show a close up of my face with my name written across the bottom of the screen along with my sport (usually swimming, sometimes volleyball, but not often - even in my fantasies I’m too short for volleyball), maybe even carry the flag….
Okay! Time for bed.
Whenever I see someone with an interesting tattoo I’m always tempted to ask them why they got it. Not in a condescending or judgmental way; I’m genuinely interested in knowing the stories behind the words and images these people needed to have painfully etched into their skin.
This woman has a pair of scissors with feathers running down the back of each arm - they are beautiful. I really wish I had had the guts to ask her about them.
Inflatable church to hit Italian beach (via RTE News)
“Catholic nuns and priests in Italy are following their flocks to the beach, establishing an inflatable church and convent in the sands to lure sunbathers.”
Because Mass in a hot plastic bubble sitting out in the sun is exactly where I want to be on a 90 degree summer’s day.
I found this story funny because my parents live about a mile from this bridge (on the Brooklyn side) and I drove over it every day when I was in college.
My favorite line is at the end of the article:
“The goats were spotted by a human bridge guard, rounded up and put back in their pen….”
I’m not really sure why the reporter had to point out that the guard who discovered the goats was human. I’m no security expert, but I’m pretty sure they would only hire humans to be guards, and not dogs and bears and chickens and things.
My cousin Preston was pretty nervous about the ocean at the time. Here, he’s watching everyone in the water… waiting to say “I told you so.”
One of the best photos I’ve ever seen.
Ancient shark had colossal bite (via BBC News)
Wow! Look how big that thing was!
I know it’s not Shark Week anymore, but it’s still really fascinating.
